A 26-YEAR-old lorry attendant was killed while both drivers escaped unhurt following a collision involving two lorries along the North-South Expressway (PLUS) southbound near Ayer Hitam this morning.
The accident, which occurred at Kilometre 79.9 at 8.36am, involved a loader lorry and a lorry carrying bathroom accessories. The attendant, who was seated in the front passenger seat, was trapped and died at the scene due to severe crush injuries. His 40-year-old driver survived the incident.
The crash caused major congestion as all three southbound lanes were obstructed.
Ayer Hitam Fire and Rescue Station operations commander, Nasrul Rahman Rusdi, said they received a distress call regarding the incident at 8.58am.
“There were three individuals involved, including the 34-year-old driver of the loader lorry. All drivers were unharmed and did not sustain any injuries,” he said in a statement.
“A team of six firefighters from the Ayer Hitam station rushed to the scene to extricate the victim, who was pinned in the wreckage due to the extensive damage to the front of the vehicle.”
“The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel and has since been handed over to the police for further action,” he added. - June 25, 2025
