UMNO Jasin has passed a motion to close the door to negotiations with any party in the Unity Government to discuss distribution of state seats in the Melaka state election (PRN) scheduled to be held next year.

The division's special motion, read out by its Information Chief, Zulkifli Kalil, also decided that all seats won by Barisan Nasional (BN) would be maintained in the PRN.

He said the motion was important because it set a benchmark for Umno and BN Melaka, which won the last PRN with 21 out of 28 DUN seats, thus becoming the dominant party in the state.

He stressed that the 21 seats controlled by BN must be defended and any discussion regarding the distribution of the seats will not be entertained.

"This is final," he said.
