SEREMBAN – The coroner’s court here has set January 4 to give its decision on its inquest on Irish-French teenager Nora Anne Quoirin.
This was announced by lawyer S. Sakthyvell, representing the victim’s family, here today.
“The decision is expected to be announced at 10am at the coroner’s court in the Seremban Court Complex,” he said.
On December 10, the last day of the inquest’s proceedings, coroner Maimoonah Aid said she would give her decision either on December 31 or January 4.
A total of 47 witnesses, including the teenager’s parents, Meabh Jaseprine Quoirin and Sebastien Quoirin, testified during the proceedings, which began on August 24.
The proceedings were also broadcast live online through the official Malaysian Judiciary web portal and its official YouTube and Facebook channels. The proceedings were also conducted in English and Bahasa Malaysia.
Nora Anne, 15, was found missing on August 4, last year, a day after she and her family arrived in Malaysia for a two-week vacation at a resort in Pantai, about 60km south of here.
On August 13, 10 days after she was reported missing, her body was found near a creek in a ravine about 2.5km from the resort where she and her family were staying, following a massive search.
A preliminary post-mortem report had stated that the death of the teenager with disabilities found no criminal elements, and the cause of death was reported as gastrointestinal bleeding due to prolonged hunger and stress. – Bernama, December 24, 2020
