HOME Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail has condemned a deeply disturbing case involving the rape of a three-month-old baby, which was recorded on video and sold — calling it “insane” and “beyond comprehension.”

Speaking at the Home Ministry’s monthly assembly today, Saifuddin revealed he had been briefed on the matter by police at 12.30am recently — a timing he said signalled the gravity of the crime.

“Now we are seeing a situation that has spiralled into something horrific, beyond all imagination. A three-month-old baby raped, videoed, and the video sold. That’s madness… yes, that’s completely insane,” he said.

He did not disclose whether the incident took place in Malaysia or abroad.

The minister added that plans are underway to strengthen the Sexual, Women and Children’s Investigation Division (D11) under the Criminal Investigation Department to better handle cases of such nature.

When pressed by reporters after the event, Saifuddin declined to provide further details on the case.

Meanwhile, he also addressed the recent dismantling of the Bangladesh-based radical group by Malaysian police, warning that Malaysia will not allow its territory to be used as a platform for recruitment or fundraising linked to terrorism.

“We will not compromise, even if the group’s targets are in their home country. This success demonstrates that our intelligence capabilities are among the best,” Saifuddin said. - July 16, 2025
