THE Pahang Road Transport Department (JPJ) has confirmed that a so-called temporary travel permit for vehicle inspection—bearing the name and signature of the department’s state director—is fake.

In a statement issued on Saturday night, the department clarified that no such permit exists and that official temporary travel passes can only be obtained from JPJ state offices or branches without requiring the director’s authorisation.

"The Pahang JPJ has found fake documents misusing the name of the department and the Pahang JPJ director," the statement read. "The department is serious about tackling the issue of falsifying documents and misusing names."

A police report has since been lodged, and the department said firm legal action will be taken against any individuals or parties found to be involved in producing or circulating the fraudulent permit.

The department also issued a public advisory, urging caution when dealing with vehicle sales or purchases—particularly those conducted through unverified sources or online platforms.

"Complaints can be made to the department about any offer or claims by third parties regarding its services," it said, adding that the public must remain vigilant to avoid falling victim to scams involving falsified JPJ documents. - July 20, 2025
