A MOTORCYCLIST lost his temper after receiving a summons during a Road Transport Department (JPJ) operation at the Kemuning Toll Plaza on the Shah Alam Expressway (KESAS) last night.
The man caused a public disturbance and hurled verbal abuse at enforcement officers, even going as far as to challenge them to detain him.
Despite efforts to calm him down, he remained confrontational until eventually leaving the area without further incident.
He was one of 148 road users issued summonses during the operation, which inspected 580 vehicles.
Selangor JPJ director Azrin Borhan said the most common offence recorded was driving without a valid licence, for which 76 summonses were issued.
“Other offences included expired road tax (51), lack of insurance (49), and failure to hold a Goods Driving Licence (GDL) (eight).
“There were also eight cases involving tampered registration numbers, seven for missing front and rear number plates, five for no side mirrors, and 10 other technical offences,” he told reporters at the scene.
The department seized eight motorcycles and four cars during the operation. A total of 13 inspection notices and eight prohibition of use notices (PG3) were also issued.
Azrin added that most motorists caught with expired road tax claimed they had forgotten to renew it due to busy schedules. One motorcycle was found to have an LKM (road tax) that had expired for over two years.
Meanwhile, the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK) in Petaling, which took part in the operation, arrested three local men aged between 30 and 40 after they tested positive for methamphetamine.
Separately in Kluang, Johor, two men with prior criminal and drug records were arrested after police found an object resembling a firearm in Kahang yesterday.
Kluang District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Bahrin Mohd Noh said the arrests were made during a routine crime prevention patrol conducted by officers from the Kahang Police Station.
At around 2.30 pm, officers stopped a suspicious vehicle occupied by the two men, aged 22 and 32.
“A search uncovered an item resembling a weapon. Background checks revealed the main suspect has four previous records related to crime and drug offences, while the other has one drug-related record.
“Both suspects also tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said in a statement.
The pair are being held to assist with further investigations. The case is being investigated under Section 36 of the Firearms Act 1960. - August 7, 2025
