PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said he will first review findings from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) before considering whether to apologise to former Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin.
Anwar also suggested that the opposition leader should apologise in turn, citing repeated accusations and alleged slander made against him in and outside Parliament.
“He too should apologise, as he has made many baseless accusations and slanderous claims, including allegations that my administration has been oppressive by denying funding to Kelantan,” Anwar said during a press conference following the ASEAN Law Forum 2025 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre today.
The event marked the official launch of the Joint Statement by ASEAN Law Ministers on International Commercial Arbitration and Mediation, and was attended by Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Law and Institutional Reform) Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said, her deputy M Kulasegaran, and ASEAN Secretary-General Dr Kao Kim Hourn.
Muhyiddin, the Member of Parliament for Pagoh, recently demanded an apology from Anwar following comments suggesting he was defending foreign nationals in relation to the RON95 fuel subsidy rationalisation.
On 7 August, Muhyiddin warned that if the Prime Minister failed to issue an apology, he would table a motion in the Dewan Rakyat to refer him to the Parliamentary Committee on Rights and Privileges. - August 21, 2025
