POLICE have yet to uncover any indication of sexual misconduct in the ongoing investigation into the murder of a female college student found hanged from a ceiling fan at her family home in USJ 2/1 earlier this month.
Subang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Wan Azlan Wan Mamat, confirmed that to date, statements from 30 individuals have been recorded, including the victim’s family members, neighbours, and friends.
“We are in the process of interviewing five more individuals. There are also statements that we intend to re-record,” he said during a press conference at the Subang Jaya District Police Headquarters on Friday.
He added, “This case will take some time to resolve, and for now, our investigations have not pointed towards any sexual element.”
Police are currently reviewing closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage from the area surrounding the victim’s home, as well as data from the victim’s mobile phone, to gather further insights into the motive and possible suspects.
“From what we’ve seen so far, the victim did not have a boyfriend,” Wan Azlan said.
The body of the woman, believed to be in her twenties, was discovered by her father at around 11:55am on 14 August. She had been alone in the house at the time, while normally residing there with her sister and cousin.
A post-mortem conducted by a pathologist at Serdang Hospital confirmed the cause of death as haemorrhaging around the hyoid bone in the neck, with accompanying muscle and bone injuries consistent with manual strangulation. The case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.
No signs of forced entry or missing property were reported. - August 22, 2025
