MALAYSIA remains unwavering in its firm and principled support for the liberation of Gaza, despite growing external threats and national security concerns, Communications Minister Datuk Fahmi Fadzil said today.
Speaking at the launch of the Gaza Time Tunnel in conjunction with the Sumud Nusantara 2025 Carnival, Fahmi acknowledged that Malaysia’s vocal stance on the Palestine issue has not come without challenges.
“There is no denying that since the government's position—and that of the Prime Minister in particular—has been strongly outspoken on Gaza and Palestine, he has become one of the most closely monitored leaders in Southeast Asia by foreign elements,” he said during a press conference.
He cited recent remarks by the Inspector-General of Police, confirming an increase in activity by foreign agents, which remains under active surveillance by authorities.
“These agents are under close monitoring and action is being taken continuously to ensure national security,” he added.
Despite the risks, Fahmi emphasised that the government would not compromise on matters of security and that surveillance efforts were being intensified.
“We are receiving regular briefings from the National Security Council and will act if necessary. While the situation remains under control, it is not something to be taken lightly,” he said.
Fahmi, who also serves as spokesperson for the Unity Government, stressed that Malaysia’s stance is rooted in long-standing principle, not emotion.
“Our position has always been consistent and principled, and through the Prime Minister’s leadership, we have influenced several other countries to voice their support for Gaza’s liberation,” he said.
