KUCHING – The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (JPBN) is conducting contact tracing after recording three Covid-19-positive cases, including one involving an illegal.
The JPBN said in a statement today that the illegal immigrant from Kalimantan, Indonesia, was detained upon entering Sarawak via a rat trail on the Malaysia-Indonesia border in the Lundu district near here on Wednesday.
"The man underwent Covid-19 screening yesterday and was tested positive, although he did not have any symptoms, and was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital for further treatment," the JPBN said.
The JPBN said the second case involved a Thai man who arrived from a high-risk Covid-19 infection area Kuala Lumpur to Miri on December 21, and tested positive for the disease two days later.
He is receiving treatment at Miri Hospital, it added.
The JPBN added that a Bangladeshi man, who arrived at Kuching Airport yesterday from Kuala Lumpur, alse tested positive for Covid-19 that same day and was admitted to Sarawak General Hospital.
The three cases take the total number of Covid-19 cases in Sarawak to 1,099, the JPBN added. – Bernama, December 25, 2020
