KUALA LUMPUR – Transport Minister Datuk Seri Wee Ka Siong has hit out at a mall in Johor Baru after it discouraged mall-goers from using public transport.
In a statement on Facebook, Wee questioned the Angsana JB Mall over its guidelines.
“Since the Covid-19 pandemic, there has not been a day that public transportation such as rail, bus, taxi and e-hailing (services) stopped operating, even during movement control orders.
“Public transport is the mode of transport for the B40 and M40 groups because not everyone can afford to own a car.”
He said that the mall’s guidelines will confuse the public.
“The National Security Council, the Transport Ministry and Health Ministry have set strict standard operating procedures, such as temperature screening, and compulsory use of face masks and sanitisers.
“In addition, disinfection and sanitisation exercises are carried out periodically.” – The Vibes, December 27, 2020
