THE Selangor Health Department (JKNS) confirmed the death of an eight-year-old boy in Klang, yesterday was due to positive influenza.

JKNS in a statement today said the boy died on October 16 at the Tengku Ampuan Rahimah Hospital (HTAR), Klang.

It said initial investigations found that the victim began experiencing fever, cough and diarrhoea on October 14 and his condition worsened before he lost consciousness in the early morning of October 16.

“The patient was not breathing not were there any vital signs when he was taken to a nearby private clinic. The clinic team started emergency medical assistance (CPR) and contacted an ambulance for further treatment at HTAR. However, the patient was confirmed dead upon arrival,” said JKNS.

According to the statement, an influenza screening test was conducted by the clinic at the request of the family and showed a positive result.

No autopsy was performed because there was no order from the police.

"For cases like this, determining the cause of death requires a comprehensive assessment including clinical history and discussion at the Mortality Committee level to confirm the actual diagnosis," he added.

It was earlier reported that Muhammad Syeikhu Azrin, who was enrolled in a special education programme at SK Meru, Klang, passed away early Thursday morning due to Influenza A infection. - October 18, 2025
