THE Sabah government expressed its appreciation to Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and the Federal Cabinet for the historic decision not to appeal the High Court's decision reaffirming Sabah's constitutional right to the 40 percent special allocation.

Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor said the decision showed that the Prime Minister understood the hopes and aspirations of the people of Sabah.

He said it also reflected the Prime Minister's genuine commitment to uphold what is guaranteed under the Federal Constitution.

"In my meetings and discussions with the Prime Minister, I expressed the state government's firm stance that Sabah's constitutional rights must be respected, recognised and implemented.

"The decision not to appeal reflects the strong working relationship between the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS)-led state government and Putrajaya," he said in a media statement today.

Hajiji said respecting the court's decision was an important step towards bridging the development gap between Sabah and the Peninsula. He said this was especially true in rural areas where infrastructure, agriculture and basic amenities were still lagging behind.

"The people of Sabah have waited too long. What is needed now is decisive action and genuine political will to fulfil and implement the 40 per cent rights," he said.

He also stressed that the state government was prepared to continue to negotiate constructively with the Federation to implement the court's order to review and finalise the agreement.

In addition, the GRS Chairman also urged the people of the state to continue to support Anwar's leadership. - November 11, 2025
