A MALAYSIAN border control and protection agency (AKPS) officer who was allegedly killed by her husband on Thursday was in the process of divorcing him, her eldest brother said.

Amran Ibrahim, 59, said the family knew his youngest sister, Norhazwani Ibrahim, 35, had been experiencing marital problems, although she rarely spoke to them about the details.

He said her husband had been released from prison just days before the incident after serving a sentence for a drug-related offence.

Norhazwani was found dead at the KLIA Public Servants’ Residential Complex on Thursday night, with her husband suspected of killing her.

Amran said he was at home at about 7.30 pm when another brother called to inform him of the tragedy.

“My brother told me that my sister had been killed by her husband, who had already surrendered at a police station.

“I could not believe it at first, so I called the police station myself. They confirmed that my sister had been stabbed to death,” he said when met at the scene.

The news was particularly difficult for the family to accept, given that Norhazwani was the youngest of nine siblings.

“As Muslims, we accept death, but we never expected it to happen this way,” Amran said.

He described Norhazwani as a cheerful person who rarely shared her personal problems with the family. Although they knew she was having difficulties in her marriage, she tended to confide more in another brother rather than discuss the matter with him.

“We knew she had problems with her husband, but she never told me much about them. She shared more with our other brother,” he said.

Amran said one of his younger brothers, who lives in Kelantan, had stayed overnight at Norhazwani’s home a day before the incident.

During the visit, Norhazwani and her husband appeared to be on normal terms, he said. His brother had even advised the couple to look after their relationship and avoid quarrelling.

The couple had been married for seven years and had two children, aged five and six. The children are now being cared for by another of Amran’s sisters in Kelantan.

Despite his anger over what had happened, Amran said the family would leave the matter to the police to investigate and take the appropriate action.

“We are deeply saddened by what happened because she was our youngest sister. Of course, we are angry, but we leave it to the police to take action,” he said.

Norhazwani’s body was taken to Hospital Tuanku Ja’afar in Seremban for a post-mortem, Amran said.

He added that the family had been informed that the post-mortem would be conducted on Saturday morning, after which her remains would be brought back to Kelantan for burial.

Negeri Sembilan police chief Datuk Alzafny Ahmad had earlier confirmed the incident, saying police received information about the case at about 8.30 pm on Thursday.

He said the case was being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder. Further details would be released after investigations at the scene were completed. – October 16, 2026
