PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) is nearing the final stage of preparations for the Melaka state election, with the party set to contest nine seats and its candidates to be unveiled alongside Pakatan Harapan’s line-up on Oct 24.

PKR secretary-general Datuk Dr Fuziah Salleh said the candidates would be announced by PH chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim at 8pm during the coalition’s candidate announcement and election machinery launch at the Hang Jebat Stadium parking area in Melaka.

She said the party’s candidate selection was almost finalised.

“PKR will contest the nine seats as part of Pakatan Harapan’s efforts to mount a strong challenge in the Melaka state election,” she said.

Fuziah, who is also Deputy Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) Minister, was speaking at a press conference after the opening of the Southern Zone leg of the International Franchise Exhibition at Paradigm Mall Convention Centre in Johor Bharu on Friday.

On the possibility of cooperation with other parties, she said no formal agreement had been reached, although PKR welcomed assistance from parties willing to support its campaign.

She declined to elaborate on the party’s strategy for any potential cooperation, describing it as an internal matter.

The Election Commission has set Oct 31 for nomination, Nov 10 for early voting and Nov 14 for polling, following the dissolution of the Melaka State Legislative Assembly effective Sept 23. - October 16, 2026
