THE launch of Pakatan Harapan Sabah’s manifesto has been postponed to Sunday, officials confirmed, citing translation issues and the need for thorough preparation of supporting documents.
Datuk Chan Foong Hin, National Policy Director of the Democratic Action Party (DAP), said the delay would ensure the manifesto communicates its core objectives clearly to the public.
“I was informed by PKR Sabah Chairman Datuk Mustapha Sakmud that the manifesto, originally scheduled for today, has been rescheduled to Sunday.
The manifesto has been designed to address the fundamental issues faced by the people of Sabah, particularly essential services such as water and electricity,” Chan told reporters following a visit to Kampung Torong Logong on Pulau Gaya.
He emphasised that the manifesto’s guiding principle is a return to basics, ensuring that the state’s most pressing challenges are tackled pragmatically.
“The spirit behind this manifesto is about returning to essentials. Sabahans face very real challenges, and our goal is to ensure these issues are addressed in a practical manner,” Utusan Borneo cited him saying.
Chan, who has been directly involved in drafting the document, explained that while the language style may have been slightly revised from earlier versions, the core message remains unchanged: prioritising the basic needs and quality of life for Sabah’s residents.
“Returning to basics does not mean lowering aspirations. It means placing the needs of Sabahans first, ensuring access to water, electricity, education, and other essential services for all. These are among the most urgent areas that require improvement,” he said.
The DAP official added that the postponement allows time to ensure accuracy in translation and enables the team to prepare a comprehensive presentation for both the media and the public.
“I am confident that the launch on Sunday will convey the Pakatan Harapan Sabah agenda more clearly and effectively. This manifesto represents the collective vision of our team and it is crucial that it reaches the people without confusion,” Chan said.
The manifesto is expected to outline major proposals and initiatives aimed at addressing both short- and long-term challenges in Sabah, including a focus on transparency and the proposed establishment of a special fund to manage the state’s 40 percent revenue entitlement.
Mustapha had previously indicated that the manifesto for the 17th Sabah State Legislative Assembly election (PRN17 Sabah) would prioritise fundamental state issues while continuing the commitments of the Madani government, reinforcing a strategy centred on essential services and the welfare of Sabahans. - November 19, 2025
