A TOTAL of 373 passengers were safely evacuated on Thursday morning after a monorail train stalled along Jalan Sultan Ismail, triggering an emergency response from the Fire and Rescue Department and Rapid Rail Sdn Bhd.
Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department operations commander, Senior Fire Officer I Mohamad Remi Che Hat, said the Kuala Lumpur Operations Centre received an emergency call via 999 at 9.39am before dispatching a response team to the scene.
A crew from the Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue Station, accompanied by a Fire Rescue Tender (FRT) and five personnel, arrived three minutes later to find the monorail stranded on the Medan Tuanku stretch near Maju Junction.
“Information from the monorail management indicated that the situation at the location was under control, and the work of transferring passengers from the stalled monorail was carried out by the management,” he said.
All 373 passengers were successfully evacuated from the halted train.
A 58-year-old woman fainted during the incident but regained consciousness after receiving treatment from Ministry of Health (KKM) personnel, before being transferred for further medical care.
Rapid Rail said the disruption began at 8.50am when Train 25 suffered a power supply failure between the Medan Tuanku and Titiwangsa stations. Full monorail services resumed at 11.33am following repair works.
Mohamad Remi confirmed that the evacuation was managed by the operator’s maintenance team, adding that the Fire and Rescue Department concluded its operations at 11.03am.- November 20, 2025
