THE Pakatan Harapan campaign team for the Api-Api state seat has rejected claims that it is distributing cash, red packets, rice, or food baskets from its main operations centre in Asia City, describing the allegations as “misinformation” and potential “political sabotage”.
Api-Api Election Committee secretary Lucas Yong said the Bilik Gerakan Utama had experienced an unusually high number of visitors since early morning, many claiming they were instructed to collect cash or food items from the premises.
“We wish to clearly and firmly state that our campaign does not distribute cash, gifts, food baskets, or any form of material assistance,” Yong said, underscoring that such actions are strictly prohibited under election laws.
He expressed concern that the sudden surge of visitors may be linked to false messages circulated to mislead voters or sow confusion among the public.
“We are also concerned that these claims may be part of misinformation or deliberate political sabotage aimed at misleading voters and creating disappointment or confusion. We urge voters not to be influenced by unofficial rumours, false claims, or political games spread by any party,” he added.
Yong emphasised that the Asia City centre is solely intended to provide legitimate voter-related services, including checking voter status, locating polling stations, distributing election information, and presenting the candidate’s profile to the public.
“Together, let us uphold a clean, transparent, and fair election process in Api-Api,” he said, urging voters to verify information through official channels and thanking the public for their cooperation. - November 21, 2025
