SABAH caretaker Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, has firmly rejected opposition claims that the federal government has taken “everything” from the state, emphasising that ongoing cooperation is a strategic platform for defending Sabah’s rights rather than a sign of submission.
Hajiji, who is also Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman, said: “Being part of a nation requires strong collaboration with the Federation. But this does not mean we are subservient to them.
“In every meeting, I remain steadfast and principled in defending Sabah’s entitlements,” Hajiji told a public gathering at Dewan Terbuka Kiulu on Monday.
He warned that the state would suffer setbacks if GRS were unable to continue implementing the Sabah Maju Jaya development plan.
Responding to criticisms of his administration’s performance, Hajiji highlighted the short-lived governance of the opposition.
“The opposition was only able to govern the state for just over two years. That means they were the ones who failed,” he said, accusing them of running out of ideas, relying on rhetoric, and raising issues without substance.
Hajiji reiterated that political stability, coupled with close collaboration with the federal government, is essential for enabling the Sabah government to deliver development projects and realise its vision of a prosperous state.
“The government led by GRS is committed to ensuring political stability in Sabah. Only through stable governance and strong federal cooperation can we bring more development and implement plans that will create a thriving Sabah,” he added. - November 24, 2025
