THE Ministry of Investment, Trade and Industry (MITI) formally inaugurated a new multi-purpose community hall in Kampung Tebuk Mufrad on Saturday, underscoring the federal government’s ongoing commitment to bridging the development gap between urban and rural areas through the Kampung Angkat MADANI programme.
MITI Minister Tengku Zafrul Abdul Aziz officiated the handover and praised the collaborative effort behind the project.
“Alhamdulillah, with the grace of Allah, we are gathered today to celebrate the handover and opening of the Dewan Serbaguna Terbuka in Kampung Tebuk Mufrad, which is also a MADANI Adopted Village under MITI,” he said.
The event was attended by state and federal officials, including Selangor Exco Datuk Hj. Rizam Hj. Ismail, local village heads, senior government officers, and the residents of Kampung Tebuk Mufrad.
Launched as part of the MADANI initiative introduced by the Prime Minister during the 2024 Budget, the Kampung Angkat programme aims to promote holistic improvements in village living standards, reduce disparities between urban and rural areas, and strengthen community cohesion.
Tengku Zafrul emphasised the multi-agency approach, noting the involvement of MITI and 14 of its agencies alongside JKR Selangor, Majlis Agama Islam Selangor (MAIS), Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor (JAIS), Lembaga Wakaf Selangor, and the Sabak Bernam District Office.
“This initiative reflects the government’s determination to integrate various ministries and departments to achieve balanced development and empower villages, in line with the Prime Minister’s aspiration to uphold the value of Ihsan,” Tengku Zafrul said.
“MITI’s agencies have visited the village every month, delivering a range of support from infrastructure improvements like air conditioning, solar lighting, computers, and excavators, to personal development programmes including youth motivation workshops, entrepreneurial training, motor repair sessions, and religious talks.”
The newly completed community hall occupies 2,600 square metres of wakaf land owned by Masjid Tebuk Mufrad and will be fully managed by the mosque.
The RM2.35 million project was completed in just seven months, from April to November 2025, using both MADANI village and MITI funds.
“This hall provides a venue not only for knowledge-sharing and social gatherings, but also sports, with facilities for futsal, badminton, volleyball, sepak takraw, and basketball, responding directly to residents’ requests for recreational spaces,” the minister explained.
He also highlighted efforts to identify and nurture local talent in sports through MITI’s collaboration with the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM).
“Today, we also inaugurate a badminton court with Coach Rosman, and I am confident we will uncover talent, perhaps even future stars from this village,” he added.
Tengku Zafrul expressed gratitude to the various stakeholders involved in the project, from government agencies and local leaders to the residents themselves.
“I would like to extend my sincere thanks to everyone who contributed directly or indirectly to making this community hall a reality. May Allah reward your efforts, and may this hall serve as a symbol of MITI’s commitment to the people of Kampung Tebuk Mufrad,” he said.
He also encouraged the villagers to utilise the hall to promote unity, entrepreneurship, local tourism, and economic sustainability.
“I hope the impact will extend beyond social development to enhance the economic resilience of the community,” he said, while reminding residents to remain vigilant during the northeast monsoon season. - November 29, 2025
