THE Election Commission (EC) has announced the first two confirmed victories in the Sabah State Election, declaring Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) candidate Datuk Seri Masidi Manjun the winner for the Karanaan state seat.

EC also announced Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Datuk Jamawi Jaafar as the winner for the Melalap seat.

According to the EC, the vote-tallying process took longer than usual due to multi-cornered contests including difficult terrain in several rural districts, which affected the transport of ballot boxes to the official counting centre.

“The EC assures the public that the official vote-tallying process is being conducted transparently, efficiently, and in full compliance with legal requirements.

“Further results will be announced in stages,” the commission said in a statement. – November 29, 2025
