FOUR leaders of the Johor DAP Socialist Youth (Dapsy), including its chief, Loh Wei Jian, have announced their resignations citing increasing responsibilities to the organisation's affairs.
Wei Jian said he, along with State Dapsy Secretary, Suweeta Lam Xiao Wei; Organising Secretary, Lee Jia Hau and Committee Member, Lee Wan Chian, submitted their resignation letters at 7am on Monday (December 1) to the National Dapsy Secretariat.
Wei Jian explained that the decision was made after they found it increasingly difficult to balance organizational duties with work, family and personal commitments.
“Johor is the only state where this party (DAP) is not part of the state government.
“After careful consideration, we voluntarily step down to ensure that the state wing can continue to function properly and be better prepared for the upcoming elections,” he said in a statement on Tuesday.
He added that the four individuals who resigned were the backbone of the state leadership, and he urged the National Secretariat to expedite the re-election process.
According to him, the new line-up needs to be determined to chart the direction of the state wing and strengthen efforts to reach out to young voters ahead of the Johor State Election (PRN) and the upcoming General Election (GE).
Meanwhile, Wei Jian also explained that he and Suweeta Lam who hold positions in the National Dapsy Committee will continue to serve at the central level, and that the resignation only involves their roles at the Johor state level.
He also stressed his full support for the National Dapsy Chief, Woo Kah Leong, and the youth wing's four policy priorities, namely the repeal of the University and University College Act (AUKU), the harmonisation of university admissions, the restoration of political education, and the recruitment of young talent.
"As the Director of National Political Education, I will continue to work closely with Kah Leong to strengthen political education within the party," he said. - December 2, 2025
