A SECURITY guard pleaded not guilty in the Butterworth Sessions Court today to a charge of having unnatural sex with his acquaintance last November.

The accused, Mohamad Azuddin Sabran, 58, made the plea after the charge against him was read out by an interpreter before Judge Zulhazmi Abdullah.

The accused was among 13 men arrested by police in a raid at a sauna centre that was being used as a location for illegal activities.

According to the charge, he was charged with having sexual intercourse contrary to the order of nature with a 57-year-old man.

He was charged with committing the offence at 7pm at the Unique Two Recreation Centre premises in Jalan Perai Jaya 4, Perai in the Seberang Perai Tengah district on November 29.

For the offence, he was charged under Section 377B of the Penal Code and if convicted, could be sentenced to up to 20 years in prison and caning.

The case was handled by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Nurul Aini Yahya while the accused was represented by a lawyer from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).

During the proceedings, Nurul Aini did not offer bail on the grounds that it was non-bailable and a sexual offence.

However, YBGK requested the court's discretion by allowing her client to be granted conditional bail, in addition to considering the fact that the accused had cooperated well with the police throughout the investigation.

The case will be mentioned again on January 12 for the submission of medical reports.

It was earlier reported that a 66-year-old senior citizen and a student of a public higher education institution (IPTA) were among 13 men arrested in a raid at a sauna centre believed to be a location for sexual activities in Jalan Perai Jaya, Perai on November 29.

During the raid at 7pm, several visitors on the second floor of the premises were found to be engaging in sauna activities wearing only their underwear.

Further inspection by the authorities found that the premises were equipped with a lounge, sauna and several partitioned rooms believed to be used for sexual activities.

Condoms, lubricants and several equipment related to sexual activities were also found. – December 5, 2025
