A FORMER Commander of the Malaysian Army, currently under investigation for corruption in connection with military procurement tenders, has been remanded for seven days from today until next Wednesday to assist ongoing investigations.
In addition, one of his wives, who was also arrested by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday, has been remanded for six days until Tuesday, while another wife has been remanded for three days until Saturday.
The three individuals were brought to the Putrajaya Court Complex this morning for the remand application following their arrest at the MACC headquarters yesterday at 3 pm.
They arrived at the court at 10.02 am in two MACC vehicles.
All three appeared in the court compound wearing orange detention attire and handcuffs before being escorted inside.
The remand orders enable investigators to question them further regarding allegations of corruption surrounding army procurement contracts, underscoring ongoing efforts by the MACC to tackle graft at high levels within national institutions. - January 8, 2025
