THE Sultan of Selangor has ordered state religious authorities to take firm action against immoral activities and deviant practices.

Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah issued the directive during an audience with the Selangor Islamic Religious Council (MAIS) chairman and the state mufti.

His firm stance specifically targets the upcoming ‘Glamping With Pride’ programme scheduled in Hulu Langat.

In a joint statement, MAIS and the mufti said the Sultan does not consent to any festivals or promotions related to the LGBT lifestyle in Selangor.

He also opposes the establishment of any associations or clubs linked to such activities in the state.

The religious authorities expressed strong opposition to any activity promoting LGBT practices.

They stated such acts are prohibited in Islam and contradict its core teachings.

The authorities urged police and local councils to block the programme and refuse permits for similar events.

They called for close monitoring and firm legal action to prevent such activities from being held.

Any effort to normalise these practices contradicts Islamic law, particularly in preserving lineage.

MAIS and the mufti said these efforts also pose a threat to the Islamic faith and called on all parties to uphold the sanctity of Islam in Selangor.

This is to ensure the state remains harmonious and free from practices contrary to Islamic teachings. - January 13, 2026
