THE MADANI government will be directly involved in the Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0 humanitarian mission, which is expected to involve participation from more than 80 countries, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has said.
Anwar described Malaysia’s involvement as part of a continuing international moral struggle that requires courage to uphold justice and human rights regardless of borders, race or religion.
“Insya-ALLAH, we will mobilise all our strength to help and to fight for the rights of the Palestinian people. This justice can no longer be delayed for the sake of a dignified and independent Palestine,” he said in a Facebook post on Tuesday.
The prime minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment after receiving a courtesy call from Sumud Nusantara Command Center director-general Datuk Sani Araby, who is also the chief humanitarian activist of the Malaysian Consultative Council of Islamic Organisations (MAPIM), along with Sumud Nusantara founder Nadir Al-Nuri at his office in Putrajaya.
Anwar said he was briefed during the meeting on the increasingly dire humanitarian situation in Gaza, including prolonged restrictions on aid, uncertainty surrounding the conflict and the continued suffering of Palestinians as a result of ongoing brutality.
He said Sani and Nadir also shared the achievements of the Sumud Nusantara Mission, which he noted had succeeded in breaking global silence and elevating Gaza’s plight onto the international stage.
“Kerajaan MADANI will be directly involved in this mission as a continuation of the international moral struggle, which demands the courage to uphold justice and humanitarian rights without regard for borders, race or religion,” Anwar said in his statement.
“Saudara Sani and Nadir also shared the success of the Sumud Nusantara Mission, which managed to break the world’s silence and bring the voice of Gaza to the international platform.”
Anwar added that discussions also covered preparations for future humanitarian efforts, including Malaysia’s strategic role in Global Sumud Flotilla 2.0, which will see the participation of more than 80 countries worldwide.
He reiterated that Malaysia would mobilise all available capacity and national resources to continue supporting and defending the rights of the Palestinian people, in line with what he described as universal demands for justice that can no longer be postponed to ensure Palestine remains dignified and free. - January 14, 2026
