THE Royal Malaysia Police has pledged that all procurement processes will be carried out in accordance with the principles of good governance to safeguard public interest and maintain public confidence in the country’s security institutions.
Inspector-General of Police Mohd Khalid Ismail said the force had taken note of remarks made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim regarding procurement involving the police and would respond professionally and appropriately.
“The Royal Malaysia Police will carry out all necessary actions in a professional, transparent and integrity-driven manner, in line with the laws, policies and directives set by the government,” he said in a statement on Friday.
His comments followed an announcement by the prime minister earlier on Friday ordering that all procurement decisions by the Malaysian Armed Forces and the Royal Malaysia Police linked to corruption issues be temporarily frozen until procurement procedures are fully complied with.
Anwar said the government, through the relevant ministries, would review and restructure all procurement processes to ensure greater transparency within the existing system.
The police leadership said the commitment to transparent and accountable procurement is aimed at preserving the public interest and reinforcing trust in national security institutions. - January 17, 2026
