TWO suspects are being sought after allegedly stealing 15 trays of gold, estimated to be worth about RM60,000, during a robbery at a jewellery shop inside a supermarket in Bandar Baru Nilai last night.
The suspects, believed to be two men riding a Yamaha Y15 motorcycle, are said to have stopped in front of the supermarket before entering the jewellery shop at around 8pm.
Nilai district police chief Superintendent Johari Yahya said both suspects were armed with pistols at the time of the robbery. “However, no shots were fired and no injuries were reported,” he said when contacted by Berita Harian late last night.
Johari said the total value of losses has yet to be confirmed and that the case is being investigated under Section 4 of the Firearms (Increased Penalties) Act 1971.
Police are appealing to members of the public with information related to the robbery to come forward by contacting the Nilai district police headquarters or the nearest police station.
The Royal Malaysia Police have assured the public that public safety remains a priority and that firm action will be taken against those involved.
Closed-circuit television footage from the scene shows one of the suspects carrying a delivery service bag, which is believed to have been used to store the stolen jewellery before the pair fled.
Both suspects, who were wearing full-face helmets and black rain jackets, escaped on the same motorcycle. - January 21, 2026
