THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained consent from the Attorney General to prosecute three individuals - two senior officers of the Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) and a civilian, following investigations conducted by the Commission.
The individuals concerned include the former Chief of Army, Tan Sri Hafizuddiean Jantan, and his wife, Salwani binti Anuar.
Each will be charged with four counts under Section 4(1) of the Anti-Money Laundering, Anti-Terrorism Financing and Proceeds of Unlawful Activities Act 2001 (AMLATFPUAA 2001) at the Kuala Lumpur Special Corruption Court tomorrow.
“Hafizuddiean will also face an additional two charges under the same section and Act at the Shah Alam Special Corruption Court, Selangor, on Friday, 23 January 2026.
Meanwhile, Salwani will also be charged with one additional offence under the same section and Act at the Jertih Sessions Court, Terengganu, on Monday, 26 January 2026,” MACC said in a statement today.
In addition, the MACC has obtained consent to prosecute the former Chief of Defence Forces, Tan Sri Mohd Nizam Jaafar, at the Kuala Lumpur Special Corruption Court on Friday.
Mohd Nizam will be charged with two counts under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009 following investigations into abuse of power and matters involving the Armed Forces Welfare Fund (TKAT), one count of criminal breach of trust under Section 409, and one count under Section 165 of the Penal Code.
“The MACC would also like to inform that investigations involving two other senior MAF officers are currently at the final stage, and the investigation papers will be submitted to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (DPP) in the near future for further action.
“The MACC reaffirms its continuous commitment to ensuring that all acts of corruption and abuse of power are addressed firmly, transparently, and without compromise, in line with the principle of the rule of law,” it added. – January 21, 2026
