PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has brushed off claims that ongoing graft probes targeting political figures are fueled by spite or political payback.
Wrapping up the 10-day run of MAHA 2026 at MAEPS today, Anwar made it clear that he isn't calling the shots on who gets investigated.
"People can claim it's revenge or envy all they want, but I’m not the one running these probes—the enforcement agencies are," he told the crowd during his closing speech.
He pointed out the hard lines of institutional separation: enforcement bodies dig up the facts, the Attorney General's Chambers decides whether to haul someone to court, and judges hand down the verdicts.
According to the Prime Minister, his core mandate is keeping the machinery of government running strictly by the book, adding that clamping down on systemic corruption and financial leaks is non-negotiable.
Several high-profile personalities have already faced charges, with more investigations active.
