THREE warehouses storing plastic products and 12 vehicles were completely destroyed in a fire at Mogoputi Industrial Park Phase 2 in Penampang, Sabah last night.
The blaze broke out at 10.25pm, destroying all three permanent warehouse blocks, each measuring about 279 square metres.
Sabah Fire and Rescue Department director Mohd Pisar Aziz said firefighters found all three warehouses engulfed in flames upon arrival, prompting crews from the Kota Kinabalu and Putatan fire and rescue stations to respond.
“The three permanent warehouse blocks, each measuring about 279 square metres, were completely destroyed in the fire.
“All 12 vehicles in the area were also 100 per cent burnt, but no casualties were reported,” he told reporters at the scene.
The vehicles comprised four vans, four four-wheel-drive vehicles, two five-tonne lorries, a Perodua Viva and a motorcycle.
Mohd Pisar said 29 firefighters were deployed in the operation, supported by fire engines and water tanker lorries.
The fire was brought under control at 12.32am after nearly two hours of firefighting, although extinguishing work continued to ensure there were no remaining pockets of fire.
The cause of the blaze and the estimated losses have yet to be determined. - October 23, 2026
