PRIME Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has responded to a young boy’s request for prayers ahead of his upcoming tonsil surgery, offering words of encouragement in a video message that has drawn attention on social media.

The exchange began with Muhammad Ammar Izdiyad addressing Anwar in a video, asking how the prime minister was doing before sharing that he would be undergoing an operation and seeking his prayers.

Anwar responded with a video of his own on Threads on Oct 19, wishing Ammar good health and praying for the procedure to go smoothly.

“Greetings. May young Ammar be granted good health, may everything go smoothly, and may he undergo the surgery safely,” Anwar said.

The prime minister’s response was a personal gesture towards the young boy, who had reached out ahead of a medical procedure that can be an anxious experience for a child.

For Ammar, the exchange meant receiving words of encouragement from the country’s leader at a time when he was preparing to undergo surgery.

Anwar’s message focused on his well-being and the hope that everything would go smoothly.

Ammar is known through videos shared on social media.

His appeal to Anwar and the prime minister’s response brought a human touch to the online exchange, centred on a child seeking prayers before going into surgery.

The timing of the operation was not stated in the available posts. - October 20, 2026
