Anwar apologises over TuJu glitches, blames delays on app improvements
The Prime Minister says sorry to users experiencing problems with navigation application TuJu - October 23, 2026

PRIME MINISTER Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has apologised to the public for disruptions and difficulties when using navigation application TuJu, attributing the problems to delays in improving the service.

Anwar said the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) had acknowledged shortcomings in the application, which the government recommended as an alternative to Waze amid concerns over national security and data protection.

“I received an acknowledgement from the Malaysian Highway Authority that TuJu has shortcomings because the application is incomplete. It is true that TuJu has weaknesses, but for the time being, I do not understand why this has become controversial.

“The controversy is about the alternative being slow to improve. I agree, but our decision is not the controversy. This is a matter of national security. It is strange that people are still pressing the issue,” he said at a press conference in Ampang today.

Anwar’s apology comes amid criticism from users who have encountered problems with TuJu following the government’s move to recommend alternatives to Waze.

He acknowledged that the replacement was not yet fully developed, but maintained that security considerations remained central to the government’s decision. - October 23, 2026
