SEVERAL senior leaders of Parti Islam Se-Malaysia (PAS) declined to comment when approached by the media about the agenda being discussed at the party’s closed-door retreat in Bangi on Friday.
Those seen at the venue included PAS deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man, vice-presidents Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar and Datuk Idris Ahmad, as well as political secretary to the PAS president Mohd Syahir Che Sulaiman.
Also present were PAS Youth chief Afnan Hamimi Taib Azamudden and central working committee members Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor and Datuk Seri Shahidan Kassim.
All the leaders approached chose not to respond to questions from journalists, offering only smiles when asked about the matters under discussion.
PAS Youth information chief Khairul Nadzir Helmi Azhar later said the retreat was a routine programme held annually and did not involve any extraordinary agenda.
“The retreat is meant to streamline key performance indicators, outline the work that needs to be carried out and coordinate the party’s operations as usual,” he told Berita Harian.
Meanwhile, observations by reporters outside the retreat hall found that security measures were tightly enforced. Leaders attending the programme were required to leave their mobile phones at the registration desk, while members of the media were not permitted to remain near the venue. - January 31, 2026
