A HEALTH officer has tragically lost his life following a four-vehicle collision on KM 26 of the Jerantut-Temerloh road in Temerloh on Monday morning.

Temerloh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Nasyim Bahron, confirmed that Sathiyan Raja Gopal, 43, who was driving a Proton Saga, was pronounced dead at the scene due to severe injuries.

The crash involved a lorry trailer, a Perodua Alza, and a Toyota Hilux in addition to the victim's car, the Proton Saga.

Mohd Nasyim explained that the incident occurred when the Perodua Alza, travelling from Temerloh towards Jerantut, stopped to make a right turn at the junction leading to Kampung Dato' Shariff Ahmad.

The vehicle was rear-ended by the trailer, causing it to veer into the opposite lane and collide head-on with the Proton Saga.

"After the initial collision, the Proton Saga was also struck from behind by a Toyota Hilux travelling in the same direction," he said in a statement on Monday.

The driver of the Perodua Alza, Agoes Zaid Haritha Mohamad, 42, sustained serious injuries and was rushed to Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Hospital (HOSHAS) in Temerloh for treatment.

Authorities believe the accident was caused by the negligence of the trailer driver, and further investigations are being carried out under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. - February 2, 2026
