POLICE are looking for a man who committed indecent acts while looking at a woman who was praying at a mosque in Bukit Siput in Segamat, on Wednesday.

Segamat District Police Chief, Superintendent Mohd Jumazanzahir Chek Ismail, said police received a report from a 40-year-old local woman regarding the incident at 6.29 pm.

He said that at the time of the incident, at about 11.15 am, the victim was performing the Dhuha prayer before being approached by an unknown man who was half-naked and committed indecent acts while looking at the victim.

According to him, the victim, who was worried about her safety, fled the mosque.

“Initial investigations found that closed-circuit television (CCTV) footage at the scene of the incident successfully recorded the suspect’s actions,” he said in a statement.

He said the suspect is believed to be a foreign man in his 30s, thin and fair-skinned.

He said efforts to track down and arrest the suspect were ongoing, and the case was being investigated under Section 377D of the Penal Code. – March 5, 2026
