THE Kuala Lumpur magistrate's court today issued arrest warrants against two sons of the late Tun Daim Zainuddin - Muhammed Amir, 31, and Muhammed Amin, 28 - for failing to comply with a notice by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) to appear in court to face charges.
The court also issued an arrest warrant for businesswoman Josephine Premla, 65, after allowing the prosecution’s appeal, represented by Deputy Public Prosecutor, Mahadi Abdul Jumaat.
Magistrate Illi Marisqa Khalizan stated that there was reason to believe that the trio had absconded.
She also noted that the trio had been notified by MACC in February that they were required to furnish their statements.
However, lawyer Nizamuddin Hamid — leading the group of lawyers representing the trio — said they had been in constant contact with the authorities and were 'ambushed' by the application on Tuesday.
"The prosecution's application has merit, and therefore the arrest warrants are issued," Illi said.
However, the court granted an interim stay on today’s arrest warrants after being informed that the parties intend to seek a revision at the High Court of the order.
Earlier today, Daim’s daughter, Asnida Daim, pleaded not guilty in the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court to a charge of failing to declare her assets.
The 65-year-old was charged under Section 36(2) of the MACC Act with failing to comply with the terms of an asset declaration notice from the anti-graft agency.
She made the plea when the charge was read to her before Judge Rosli Ahmad. – April 7, 2026
