PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) deputy secretary-general Bryan Ng Yih Miin has accused Petaling Jaya MP Lee Chean Chung of prioritising media statements over effective action in his constituency.
In a statement, Ng said Lee’s recent claim that his parliamentary seat is “no longer safe” reflects his own shortcomings rather than political threats.
“If this seat is lost in the next election, YB Lee Chean Chung must take full responsibility for his actions that have led to this situation,” he said.
Floods and Lack of Action
Speaking further, Ng criticised Lee for his handling of recurring flash floods in areas such as Taman Sri Manja, Taman Dato Harun, and Jalan 223.
Despite having access to federal and local agencies, Ng said Lee’s response has largely been limited to press releases, without implementing practical mitigation measures.
“Where was YB Lee when Petaling Jaya was flooded?” Ng asked.
“Residents have seen rhetoric, but no real solutions.”
Ng also pointed to Lee’s repeated absences from monthly Central Leadership Council (MPP) meetings and his disengagement from grassroots activities, including Ramadan community programs.
He said this has given the impression that Lee is more active on social media than in serving constituents.
On the Taman Jaya Lake issue, Ng said Lee, despite his engineering background, had suggested university collaboration through social media instead of proposing concrete technical or federally funded solutions.
Internal Party Dissatisfaction
Meanwhile, Ng added that Lee has also failed to attend his own Petaling Jaya branch’s Annual General Meetings, where a motion requesting that he not be renominated was passed, reflecting dissatisfaction among party members.
“After nearly three years in office, residents have seen mostly statements and very little action,” Ng said.
“Petaling Jaya needs representatives who deliver solutions, not just media statements.” – May 11, 2026
