Woman jailed over abduction, extortion and forced nudity case as three admit guilt

THREE individuals have been convicted and sentenced after admitting their roles in a disturbing case involving the unlawful confinement, assault, extortion and humiliation of a 33-year-old woman, who was allegedly forced to strip naked while being filmed by her captors.

The Batu Pahat Magistrates’ Court sentenced widow Nur Syuhaidah Saharan, 34, to two years and six months’ imprisonment, while Mohamad Salehuddin Ali, 34, was jailed for three years and ordered to receive three strokes of the cane.

A third accused, Aliza Khamis, 45, was fined RM2,000 after pleading guilty to her involvement in the incident.

Magistrate Arun Noval Dass ordered that Nur Syuhaidah’s prison terms run concurrently from the date of conviction, while Mohamad Salehuddin’s custodial sentence will take effect from the date of his arrest.

Mohamad Salehuddin faced four charges, Nur Syuhaidah three charges, and Aliza one charge. All three pleaded guilty during proceedings.

Nur Syuhaidah is currently serving a separate five-year prison sentence at Kluang Prison after testing positive for amphetamine and methamphetamine for a third time.

The three accused were charged under provisions of the Penal Code relating to wrongful confinement after unlawfully detaining the victim at a residence in Taman Banang Heights.

Nur Syuhaidah and Mohamad Salehuddin also admitted to recording the victim while she was naked using a mobile phone, an offence prosecuted under Section 509 of the Penal Code.

The pair further pleaded guilty to extorting the victim, compelling her to surrender RM4,200 in cash as well as her mobile phone.

Mohamad Salehuddin faced an additional charge of voluntarily causing hurt after repeatedly punching the victim in the face, body, legs, abdomen and chest.

The offences were committed between 7am and 11am on 13 May at a house in Taman Banang Heights.

According to the facts presented before the court, the victim received a telephone call from one of the accused requesting that she come to the house.

Upon arrival, she was allegedly locked inside the premises with a padlock, preventing her from leaving.

The court heard that the male accused later arrived at the house accompanied by two other individuals who remain at large. The victim was then assaulted before being taken to another residence, where she was confined inside a room.

While being held there, she was allegedly ordered to remove her clothing. The accused subsequently used a mobile phone to record her while she was naked.

After being released, the victim immediately lodged a police report, triggering the investigation that led to the arrests and subsequent prosecution.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Firdaus Ruslan, while all three accused were represented by legal aid counsel Tan Song Yan from the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK).

The case has drawn attention due to the severity of the offences, which involved a combination of physical violence, unlawful detention, extortion and the recording of degrading material without the victim’s consent. - June 4, 2026
