PERIKATAN Nasional (PN) Taiping said the act of editing an image of Chinese women wearing a headscarf using artificial intelligence (AI) was an insult to the religious sensitivity and dignity of Muslim women.
Its coordinator, Maizatulazwa Abdul Rahim, said the act was not only insensitive but also reflected the attitude of a few politicians who were willing to exploit racial issues to create fear among the community, especially ahead of the election.
According to her, the action also raised questions about the sincerity in respecting the sensitivities of the Malay and Muslim communities.
"The use of these images as propaganda or narrow political capital, especially through satire involving religious sensitivities, must be stopped.
"This is the basis for maintaining harmony and avoiding tension between races. Is wearing the headscarf something humiliating and funny for them?" she asked.
She urged the government to take strict action against the dissemination of such provocative content, including reviewing the misuse of AI technology that can be manipulated to spread hatred and slander.
"The uncontrolled use of AI technology to the point of being misused for propaganda purposes and racial harmony tensions must be addressed immediately," she said.
Earlier, a post on social media allegedly uploaded by an MCA-appointed Councillor showed an edited image of a group of women wearing headscarves that went viral. – June 19, 2026
