BERSATU has announced that it will contest the upcoming Negri Sembilan state election using its own party logo instead of the Perikatan Nasional (PN) banner, following a deepening rift within the opposition coalition over PAS' decision to cooperate with Barisan Nasional (BN).

Bersatu president Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said the party's Supreme Council, which met on Wednesday night, expressed regret over what it described as PAS' unilateral move to pursue political cooperation with BN without consulting its PN partners.

According to Muhyiddin, the decision leaves Bersatu with little choice but to campaign under its own symbol after discussions on seat allocations within the coalition failed to materialise.

"PAS' decision is against the interest of Perikatan as a political coalition which is supposed to be an alternative to Barisan and Pakatan Harapan.

"Due to the Perikatan seat allocation committee meeting being postponed indefinitely and that Bersatu was not roped in for any discussion on the coalition's seat allocation, the party's candidates in this election will use Bersatu's logo," he said in a statement on Wednesday.

Muhyiddin also took aim at PAS' leadership of Perikatan Nasional, alleging that the party had strayed from the coalition's original objectives and political struggle.

He further claimed that the coalition's seat allocation committee meeting, originally scheduled for July 12, was postponed because PAS had already decided to pursue political cooperation with BN.

"Until today, the Perikatan supreme council had not been convened and the committee had not met to finalise seat allocation among its members," he said. - July 16, 2026
