HER Royal Highness Tengku Ampuan Pahang Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah has extended an invitation to families from the Orang Asli community in Kampung Sungai Cot, Maran, who require new accommodation to relocate and settle on land owned by Her Highness in Kuala Wau, Maran.
The offer was made as Tunku Azizah expressed sympathy, sadness and concern over the land dispute involving the Orang Asli community in the area.
Sultan Pahang’s Royal Household Comptroller, Major General Datuk Mohamed Zahari Yahya, said Her Highness had been closely monitoring developments and fully understood the worries and difficulties faced by the Orang Asli community.
He said Tunku Azizah viewed the Orang Asli not merely as residents of Pahang, but as a community that had always held a special place in Her Highness’ heart.
"Through the thesis research currently being prepared by Her Highness, the role of the Orang Kita (Orang Asli) has been recognised as crucial in the development of the state since the past.
"Therefore, their welfare and future have always been among the matters given attention by Her Highness.
"Out of this sense of compassion and responsibility, Her Highness has graciously invited any family from the Orang Kita community of Kampung Sungai Cot, Maran, who requires a place to stay, to relocate and live on Her Highness’ land in Kuala Wau, Maran," he said in a statement today.
Mohamed Zahari said Tunku Azizah had also assured the Orang Asli community that they should not worry about their future.
He said if the Kuala Wau land was developed in the future, Her Highness would ensure that Orang Asli families residing there would continue to have homes and would not be marginalised.
"They will continue to be cared for and may remain living in the area. Her Highness also emphasised that this invitation is not limited only to the Orang Kita community of Kampung Sungai Cot, Maran," he said.
He added that any Orang Asli families requiring shelter or a new settlement were also welcome to reside on the land in Kuala Wau, Maran, subject to existing legal provisions.
Mohamed Zahari said Tunku Azizah hoped the offer would provide some relief to those affected while ensuring that the welfare of the Orang Asli community continued to be protected regardless of their background or circumstances.
"At the same time, Her Highness urges all parties involved to prioritise the spirit of cooperation, mutual respect and meaningful discussions in seeking a fair, wise and balanced solution that safeguards the interests of all parties.
"Her Highness also hopes that all efforts being and to be undertaken by the relevant parties will lead to the best possible resolution for the well-being of the Orang Kita community and the harmony of Pahang," he said.
He added that Tunku Azizah prayed for all matters to be eased and for a solution that would bring benefit and goodwill to everyone involved. - July 20, 2026
