A TWO-YEAR-OLD girl was killed after she was struck by a lorry driven by her grandfather in Kampung Bukit Kuang here on Thursday.
The incident occurred at about 10.20am, with the toddler believed to have died at the scene.
Kedah police chief Datuk Adzli Abu Shah said preliminary investigations indicated that the victim's 61-year-old grandfather was reversing a lorry when he allegedly failed to notice his granddaughter behind the vehicle, resulting in the fatal collision.
"The police have opened two investigation papers under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which carries a prison sentence of up to 10 years, and Section 31(1) of the Child Act 2001," he told reporters at the Kedah Police Headquarters.
Police are continuing investigations to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident. - July 23, 2026
