A 42-YEAR-OLD local man has been arrested for allegedly assaulting and threatening an enforcement officer from the Ipoh City Council (MBI) while the officer was carrying out official duties in Jalan Pengkalan Barat 35.
Ipoh district police chief Assistant Commissioner Muhammad Najib Hamzah said the suspect was arrested at about 12.40pm to assist with investigations.
He said the incident occurred when the enforcement officer was issuing a compound notice.
According to police, the suspect allegedly became aggressive by attempting to ram the officer with his vehicle before following the victim, grabbing him by the collar and issuing threats.
"The victim, who sustained minor injuries, subsequently lodged a police report," Muhammad Najib said in a statement.
The case is being investigated under Section 353 of the Penal Code for using criminal force to deter a public servant from carrying out official duties, and Section 506 of the Penal Code for criminal intimidation.
Najib said police would apply for a remand order to facilitate further investigations.
He also warned that stern action would be taken against anyone who obstructed, assaulted or threatened public servants while they were performing their official duties. - July 26, 2026
