A CAR accident caused by a vehicle believed to have entered the wrong lane resulted in a car crashing into a durian stall along Jalan Mergastua, Kepong Baru, on Saturday night.

The incident occurred at about 10.25pm when a Toyota Corolla driven by a 29-year-old local man allegedly entered the opposite lane before colliding with a Honda City.

Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department deputy chief Superintendent Suffian Abdullah said the impact caused the Toyota Corolla to skid onto the roadside and crash into the durian stall tent.

"No injuries were reported involving the drivers of both vehicles or members of the public," he said in a statement on Sunday.

Suffian said further investigations were ongoing, including recording statements from the drivers involved, obtaining closed-circuit television footage from the scene and identifying independent witnesses to assist investigations.

"The case is being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.

"Members of the public with information regarding the incident are urged to come forward by contacting the Tun HS Lee Traffic Police Station at 03-2071 9999 or any nearby police station," he said. - July 26, 2026
