THE Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has arrested five more officers from the Malaysian Immigration Department (JIM) as part of its expanding investigation into the alleged hacking of the Malaysian Immigration System (MyIMMs) under Op Crack.
The latest arrests underscore the widening scope of the probe into an alleged syndicate accused of exploiting the immigration system to secure Temporary Employment Visit Passes (PLKS) through unlawful means.
According to a source, the suspects, comprising four men and one woman aged between their 30s and 40s, were detained at about 1pm yesterday after appearing at MACC headquarters to have their statements recorded.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the officers are suspected of colluding in the hacking of the MyIMMs system while facilitating the approval of PLKS applications without complying with established legal procedures.
"Initial investigations found that all of these officers are suspected of colluding in hacking MyIMMs while also assisting in the process of obtaining PLKS (Temporary Employment Visit Pass) approvals without following the proper legal procedures.
"Following the arrests, the MACC seized five mobile phones belonging to the five suspects," the source said.
The source added that investigators have so far recorded statements from 17 individuals to assist the investigation.
As part of its financial probe, the MACC has also frozen nine bank accounts, including four belonging to individuals and two owned by companies, involving approximately RM300,000.
MACC Chief Commissioner Datuk Seri Abd Halim Aman confirmed the arrests, saying the case is being investigated under Sections 17(a) and 16(a) of the MACC Act 2009.
He added that the commission would apply for remand orders against all five suspects at the Putrajaya Magistrates' Court this morning.
The latest developments follow the Immigration Department's announcement that it will revoke all 1,306 Temporary Employment Visit Passes that were unlawfully approved following the compromise of the MyIMMs system.
Immigration Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban previously said the fraudulently approved passes had generated no revenue for the government and that the cancellations would be implemented immediately.
The five latest arrests come after the MACC earlier secured the remand of 12 individuals, including six Immigration Department officers, over allegations they conspired to hack the MyIMMs system to obtain unauthorised approvals for PLKS applications, signalling an expanding investigation into one of the country's most significant immigration corruption cases in recent years. - August 4, 2026
