SUBANG was among the hottest locations in Malaysia on Monday after recording a maximum temperature of 35.2ºC, as warm conditions continued to affect much of the country, according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
MetMalaysia's daily maximum rainfall and temperature report showed that Subang registered the third-highest temperature nationwide, behind Kuala Krai in Kelantan at 35.7ºC and Temerloh in Pahang at 35.3ºC.
Sandakan in Sabah recorded the fourth-highest temperature at 35.1ºC.
Despite the high temperatures, light rainfall was recorded in parts of the Klang Valley, with the Subang meteorological station receiving 3mm of rain, while the Kuala Lumpur International Airport (KLIA) station recorded 4mm.
The national average maximum daily temperature stood at 33.3ºC.
Ranau in Sabah recorded the country's highest daily rainfall at 50.6mm, followed by Bintulu in Sarawak with 32.2mm and Limbang, also in Sarawak, with 27.4mm.
MetMalaysia advised the public to remain alert to changing weather conditions and to obtain the latest forecasts and weather advisories through the department's official website and social media platforms.
The department has forecast that a Super El Niño event is expected to develop from November and could bring hotter temperatures, reduced rainfall and drought conditions across Malaysia, particularly after the Northeast Monsoon ends next year.
