SELANGOR Menteri Besar, Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari, has publicly apologised following the actions of one of his police escorts who allegedly used abusive language towards a road user in an incident that went viral on social media.

Amirudin, through a post on the Threads application, said he reviewed the video and regretted the escort's conduct as it did not reflect the appropriate code of conduct.

"Regarding the viral video issue, after reviewing it, I personally apologise for the conduct.

"A reprimand has been issued to the escort by my administration, and it will be avoided from happening again in the future. Once again, I apologise,” he said.

Earlier, a post by a Threads user went viral, claiming to have been verbally abused by a police escort for the Selangor Menteri Besar’s official vehicle during a traffic jam near a toll plaza during peak hours.

The post also questioned the escort’s attitude, leading to various reactions among online users, with most urging appropriate action to be taken to ensure that such incidents do not happen again. – August 4, 2026
