PARTI Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) will convene its 2026 National Congress at the Melaka International Trade Centre (MITC) in Ayer Keroh on Aug 15 and 16, with party president and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim set to deliver the keynote policy address and officially open the gathering.
Around 2,500 delegates representing the party's central and state leadership are expected to attend, alongside approximately 3,000 observers from among PKR members.
National Congress 2026 director Saifuddin Shafi Muhammad said this year's theme, "Renewing Reform, Building MADANI", encapsulates the party's determination to revitalise the spirit of Reformasi while ensuring it remains relevant in addressing Malaysia's evolving political, economic and social landscape.
"The theme 'Renewing Reform, Building MADANI' chosen for this year's congress carries profound significance.
"It calls on us not only to reflect on the spirit of the reform movement that formed the foundation of the party, but also to strengthen and renew it so that it remains relevant in meeting today's challenges," he said.
Saifuddin said debates at the congress would centre on key issues affecting Malaysians, particularly the economy, education and politics, with 16 representatives from the party's wings and state chapters scheduled to debate the president's policy address.
He said the annual gathering would also reinforce PKR's commitment to its founding principles of reform by promoting integrity, social justice, protection for vulnerable communities, national unity and stronger harmony among Malaysia's diverse communities.
Proceedings will be preceded by separate conferences for Angkatan Muda KEADILAN (PKR Youth) and Wanita KEADILAN (PKR Women's Wing), which are scheduled to take place a day before the main congress.
In conjunction with the event, PKR has established strategic partnerships with several government ministries and agencies, including the National Registration Department (JPN), the Immigration Department of Malaysia, the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) and the Registrar of Societies (RoS), to provide public services for delegates, observers and members of the local community.
A Rahmah Mega Carnival organised by the Melaka Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) will also be held throughout the congress.
"We hope the 2026 PKR National Congress will create fresh momentum for unity among the party's leaders and members, help identify common ground, and strengthen our efforts to build a Malaysia that is more dignified, more prosperous and more just for all," he said. - August 6, 2026
