Immigration probes viral use of department logo on vehicle driven by foreigner
DG says the department would not compromise over any misuse of its logo or identity that could mislead the public or undermine its image and integrity - August 9, 2026

THE Immigration Department is investigating the unauthorised use of its logo on a vehicle allegedly driven by a foreign national after images of the vehicle went viral on social media.

Immigration Department Director-General Datuk Zakaria Shaaban said preliminary checks confirmed that the vehicle did not belong to the department and was not an official departmental asset.

He said the use of the department’s logo was being taken seriously as it could cause confusion and create a misleading impression among members of the public.

“Accordingly, an investigation is being conducted to identify the individual involved and the purpose of using the Immigration Department logo on the vehicle.

“Appropriate action will be taken under existing laws if any violation is found,” he said in a statement today.

Zakaria said the department would not compromise over any misuse of its logo or identity that could mislead the public or undermine its image and integrity.

“The department appreciates the public’s concern over this matter and will ensure that the investigation is carried out appropriately,” he said.

The investigation will determine who was responsible for displaying the department’s logo and whether its use constitutes an offence under existing laws. - August 9, 2026
